Pick: Torquay Result: 0-2 Stake: 10/10 Odds: 1.92 Bookmaker: Betfair vCash: No

Torquay look favs when they host Ebbsfleet United tonight. The visitors are yet to win this season after the 2-2 home draw to Mansfield and the 2-0 away loss to Rushden and Diamonds. They will need some change, having not won in their last 4 games, with only one point from six, and news is John Akinde is expected to start in place of disappointing Luke Moore or Michael Gash. Other news is Paul McCarthy could make his first start of the season tonight having recovered from injury.
The Gulls, who were the second best home team last season, and defeated Fleet 3-1 at home, started with a 1-1 draw at Histon before beating Woking 2-1 in mid-week. They will be looking for revenge after the 1-0 loss to Fleet in the FA Trophy final in May at Wembley. The good news is Lee Hodges should be fit.

Pick: Marseille Result: 4-0 Stake: 10/10 Odds: 1.60 Bookmaker: Interwetten vCash: Yes

Marseille has very high ambitions this season, and the performances against Rennes and Brann shows that. Their attack is possibly the best in the league, and capable of scoring in every game. The team is full of confidence, and in front of the full stadium, they want to win. Auxerre will have problems this season despite winning the first game. If Kahlenberg and Niculae are deemed unfit to play, they stand almost no chances to take anything from this game. Even if they play, Marseille is a lot better team and is surely going to win. Our advise is betting on home win.

Pick: Aston Villa Result: 4-2 Stake: 10/10 Odds: 1.85 Bookmaker: BetClick vCash: Yes
Posted: Aug 17, 2008, 13:12
Both teams will have less than 72 hours to prepare for this game as they play in the qualifying round of the UEFA Cup. Villa wants to continue where they left off last year, and start the season with a win. The visitors have a lot of problems in the club, and it will be difficult for them to focus solely on football. Mark Hughes will try to inspire his players to win the game, but we think that will not be enough. The visitors will be short of strikers while the home team will have almost full squad. We recommend netting on home win.

Pick: Under 2.25 Result: 2-1 Stake: 10/10 Odds: 2.17 Bookmaker: 10bet vCash: Yes

It is written in media that Galatasaray don't care the cup and they will play with reserves here. It is sure that Kayseri want the cup more and home win is totally worthless with this odds. But i also won't believe that Galatasaray will be totally out of motivation. On the missing of some key attacking weapons and at the beginning of season i expect a slow game. Under 2.5 goals will be my choice here.

Pick: Standard Result: 1-3 Stake: 10/10 Odds: 1.80 Bookmaker: Wettpunkt vCash: Yes

Standard have clearly looked like the best Belgian side in the preparation games so far, and the few official matches they've played yet, they looked pretty impressive. They won the Supercup vs Anderlecht 3-1, with a very dominant display, outclassing mainy Anderlecht's midfield. Versus Liverpool they played a very good game, creating several chances and missing a penalty. That display showed they've got plenty of confidence right now, who wouldn't ...
Standard's offensive abilities are just massive, within the lines of the Belgian league. In attack, Mbokani and De Camargo are able to outjump and outpace any defence in the league, but mainly the midfield is the most important in the offensive activities. With Fellaini, Defour, Witsel and Dalmar all able to contribute in attacking actions and even defence back Cammozato able to bring offensive impulses, they're unstoppable going forward. The Dender defence is old and rusty and they'll have a very hard time controlling the Standard air force.
Dender is just a very regular team with limited abilities, and they got few things to offer comparing with Standard. The away team is stronger in every department, even mentally they're on top right now, knowing Anderlecht are looking bad right now and Brugge hasn't found their stride either yet. Clearly it gives Standard more confidence, knowing they can try'n open an early gap while the other title candidates are still searching after their best form.

Widzew Lodz wasn't my favourite and main candidate to promote, after relegation from Ekstraklasa, but they have bought few classy players, especially as for 1st League standarts, staying with most best players from previous season, so right now it's certain that they ought to be the best team in league, together with Zaglebie Lubin. In previous game they have lost with Zaglebie 3-4 (earlier they won 1-0 with Motor Lublin), but match was on great level, with amazing show offensive abilities, which should be the most important in this game, as guests will rather only defend, trying to get 0-0 score. Club from Lodz has few players, who could play in best teams in Ekstraklasa like Tomasz Lisinski (National Team player), Stefano Napoleoni, Ugochukwu Ukah, Adrian Budka or Marcin Robak, so -1 asian handicap with juicy @ 1.85 at 10Bet must be acceptable for me!
Flota Swinoujscie is simply newcomer, who'll for sure fight for avoid the relegation and so far with six points, they're on surprising seventh place. Still they are really weak on road, losing against two average teams - Kmita and Leczna, so I can't see them getting even one point against such team as Widzew. Flota has unexperienced squad, without any well known players, what's more one of their best players - Peter Iskra has a long term injury and won't play for sure. I feel sorry for this team, but they can't stand a chance in such battle between David and Goliat.

Pick: Birmingham Result: 1-2 Stake: 10/10 Odds: 2.35 Bookmaker: Expekt vCash: Yes

It is of course implied that Birmingham are favorites in this game at St Marry stadium and that the young and inexperienced Saints have nothing to do in this fixture. The odds are pretty generous and they can reward you if you go for the Blues, so don’t miss this chance. Alex McLeish’s team is very strong for this tier and they are slowly starting to prove themselves as the indisputable promotion candidates. With players worthy of Premier League at all the positions, this year will probably be a walk in the park for them.

Pick: St Etienne Result: 2-1 Stake: 10/10 Odds: 1.80 Bookmaker: Interwetten vCash: Yes
Posted: Aug 16, 2008, 12:46
Saint Etienne has created a very good team, but was unlucky to lose at Valenciennes. Gomis and Feindouno stayed in the club, while some notable players joined them. Gomis is slowly returning to the form that brought him the place in the France national team at the Euro. Sochaux faces another relegation battle, and if they sell Erding, things will get scrappy. Their defense is error prone, which could be seen against Grenoble. We think Saint Etienne will have no problems winning this match and recommend betting on home win.

Pick: Tottenham Result: 2-1 Stake: 10/10 Odds: 2.34 Bookmaker: Pinnacle vCash: Yes

Middlesbrough is weaker than last year, and looks destined for relegation struggle. Some key players left the team, and only two young players arrived to replace them. Pogatetz and Arca probably will not feature which will limit Southgate’s options. Spurs look very good at the moment despite the speculations regarding Dimitar Berbatov. Bentley and Modrić have improved their game, and Ramos is happy to see Gareth Bale free from injuries. We think that Spurs will have no troubles winning the game.

Pick: Wolfsburg Result: 2-1 Stake: 10/10 Odds: 1.71 Bookmaker: Betfair vCash: No

Last time these rivals met at Volkswagen Arena the score was 1:1 which was Köln’s second draw on this ground, and they have never succeeded in beating Wolfsburg. Goal margin absolutely favours home side (15:3), which puts Wolves in the role of big favourites before this duel.

Pick: Real Madrid Result: 1-1 Stake: 10/10 Odds: 1.73 Bookmaker: Ladbrokes vCash: Yes

Frankfurt is far away from their strength that they had in the history. They are in serious economic crisis. Also they sold so many good players. I believe Frankfurt will not perform 100 percent and their coach may rest key players because Bundesliga will begin this weekend. This game is important for Real Madrid because it will be a good practice before super cup that they will play against Valencia on 17. Aug. Due to injury and Olympic Games, Real Madrid has missing players, but this is Real Madrid, IMO they are one of the best team of the planet. I can see Real Madrid will beat Frankfurt tonight.
